The newly refurbished accommodation at Lancrigg to exceed your expectations

If you’re thinking of planning a holiday in the Lake District, the village of Grasmere is the perfect destination. Situated beside the lake Grasmere, this quintessentially English village was home to William Wordsworth.

This claim to fame, plus the modest beauty of the setting with its gift shops and wonderful choice of venues to stay and to eat (the recently refurbished Lancrigg being one to highlight!) make the village a tourists’ dream.

The go-to place to visit in the Lake District for poetry lovers

For poetry lovers, the village of Grasmere and the Lancrigg Hotel, with its pet-friendly accommodation, has to be high on their list of places to visit.

Trips to Dove Cottage (where Wordsworth wrote the majority of his best-loved poems) and Allan Bank, where he and his wife and children lived for a short period of time enjoying stunning views out over Grasmere Lake, are a must.

Luxurious Grasmere accommodation and top-quality cuisine

When it comes to Grasmere accommodation, The Lancrigg stands head and shoulders above all others. Besides being THE place to stay, the restaurant attracts diners from all over the Lake District who come to sample its sumptuous, delicious cuisine.

It’s not just the hotel which has been refurbished throughout to the highest of standards; the restaurant has also undergone a make-over. With an exciting new menu, offering the best local produce in a taste extravaganza, and a new head chef, Mark Batty in place, your taste buds will be in for a real treat.

The high-end quality accommodation with character and quirkiness

The Lancrigg provides the best of all worlds, old and new. Before it was renovated, the hotel was famous for its unique style and quirkiness, something that has been skilfully woven into the fabric of this newly renovated Grasmere accommodation, to compliment the modernity and luxury that the refurbishment has introduced.

Small is beautiful, and the 10 luxurious guest rooms include two suites which are ideal for families. There is also one room that has been specifically redesigned to accommodate those with physical challenges.

Being dog-friendly doesn’t compromise cleanliness and hygiene

Most of all, the hotel still caters for nature lovers who enjoy going walking and rambling with their pet dogs. But with cleaning and hygiene standards at their very highest, those who do not have pets can rest assured of staying in superbly clean, fresh smelling rooms, all of which are of course en-suite.

Renowned for being one of the best places to stay in Grasmere, the Lancrigg sits in a prime location both for exploring the village and for venturing further afield to take in the stunning scenery of the local landscape.

Celebrate Wordsworth in the Poet’s Bar

William Wordsworth’s memory is strongly cherished in Grasmere. The Lancrigg too also celebrates this celebrated poet through its Poet’s Bar. It’s the perfect retreat or refreshment spot for those who wish to explore their surroundings.

Memories for life

Of the many great walks to be enjoyed in Grasmere, the trek to Helm Crag will provide you with memories you’ll treasure for life. The round trip is about three kilometres and takes you through a variety of different landscapes including the woodlands and gardens surrounding Lancrigg (there are 30-acres of them) and the rocky, quarry paths that take you up to the summit nicknamed the Lion and the Lamb.

You’ll climb up about 300 metres in total, and the walk will take you about one and a half hours. Lots of people, both residents and non-residents use the extended Lancrigg car park to park-up and start their trek. They then often drop into the Poet’s Bar on their return for some refreshment and a bite to eat, having worked up an appetite.

The Lancrigg will provide you with another memory to treasure. Our exquisite rooms, our friendly yet professional service, our Poets Bar and our inspired restaurant will guarantee a fabulous accommodation experience.
