Step into our newly refurbished Explorer’s Bar and Cafe – a welcoming haven for adventurers and visitors alike, completely refurbished in May 2025. Whether you’re gearing up for a hike or winding down after a day on the fells, this is the ideal spot to relax.
Indulge in a steaming cup of coffee paired with a slice of freshly baked cake, or treat yourself to a well-earned beer or glass of wine. On bright, sunny days, unwind on our inviting terrace with a crisp, refreshing drink as you take in breathtaking views of the surrounding fells. When the weather turns, our cosy interior offers a warm retreat – complete with large picture windows that frame those same spectacular vistas.
The well-stocked bar offers a good selection of beer, cider, wine and spirits including lots of locally produced offerings from right here in the Lake District.
Four-legged friends are always welcome, so bring your dog along and make yourself at home.
Current opening hours: Monday – Thursday 9:30am – 5pm and Sundays 12pm – 5pm.
Park all day for just £6
There are walks galore on our doorstep and we’re actually the starting point for two of the region’s most popular walks, Helm Crag and Easedale Tarn.
We’re positioned at the base of Helm Crag, or ‘The Lion and The Lamb’ as it’s affectionately known by locals. And the path to Easedale Tarn starts just outside the entrance to our driveway.
Parking in Grasmere can be tricky, particularly during busy holiday periods. Our carpark is just a short drive out of the village, where you can park all day for just £6. Just park up, walk the short distance to the main house, and pay for your parking at Reception before heading out to enjoy your day on the fells.
So next time you’re planning on going hiking in Grasmere, make sure you pay us a visit.
