Local Press Announce Poet’s Bar Opening

Following the opening of our new Poet’s Bar this Summer, we’ve been delighted to receive some great local press coverage.

The Westmorland Gazette have published a great write up covering not only the opening of the bar but also the history behind Lancrigg and the bar itself. The room in our country house where the Poets’ Bar is located was originally the library of arctic explorer Sir John Richardson, who lived at Lancrigg from the 1860s, and grew up with the Scottish poet Robert Burns, and was a close friend of Charles Darwin.

The article also includes some quotes from Lancrigg owner Simon Wright: “I am delighted with our latest addition to Lancrigg and the Poets’ Bar beautiful reflects what we want to achieve here and how we want to shape the future of the hotel.

“It is already becoming popular with locals and tourists alike thanks to our friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere.

“When you couple that with the stunning view of the surrounding fells, the result is an idyllic pub venue in the heart of Grasmere and we look forward to welcoming many more guests to try it for themselves.”
