Lancrigg is a hotel in the heart of the Lake Distruct, with seventeen spacious en-suite boutique bedrooms with some on the ground floor.  The boutique rooms are all individually finished and named to reflect the history of the house. A recent addition to the hotel is the Poet’s Bar which features a slate topped bar and a table set into a beautiful bay window which provides spectacular views of the surrounding gardens and Grasmere fells.

Its fair to say Lancrigg, our boutique hotel is steeped in history and there is much to discover during your stay. Lancrigg’s secluded setting amongst 30 acres of gardens and woodlands brings with it a sense of calm and offers peace and tranquillity to all who stay.

The Poet’s Bar is located in a room that was originally John Richardson’s library. John, who made Lancrigg his home from the 1860’s grew up with Robert Burns, accompanied Lt. John Franklin on the first two expedition’s to the Artic and was a close friend of Charles Darwin, whom he sent samples and specimens from his travels around the world, some can still be found in the gardens of Lancrigg today.

The beds are extremely comfortable and guests are often surprised by the welcome silence of the valley, after settling down for the night the only sounds to awaken you are those of birds in the gardens, ensuring you are relaxed and rejuvenated for the day ahead.
